The Optimal Diet
The best diet for health and wellness is often the first question people have for us. There are general basics that fit for everyone. Beyond that, there is no one right diet that fits all. What is recommended for one person may actually be detrimental to another person. We offer individualized testing to determine what is the best diet for you based on genetic testing and blood typing.
Basics for Everyone
Vegetables and fruits seem to be the common ground for most of us. Aside from a few differences with blood typing, most people will benefit from lots of fresh vegetables and fruits. These provide lots of naturally occurring, superiorly absorbed vitamins and minerals, flavonoids and nutrients. Vegetables and fruits provide prevention from cancer, heart disease, organ and tissue degeneration. These are best consumed organic and fresh harvested, a combination of raw and steamed, boiled, or baked.
The Blood Type Diet
When it comes to meat or vegetarianism, moderate fat or low fat, or low carb - we need to do some testing. Blood typing can provide a first step with some good guidelines. As illustrated in the popular "Eat Right For Your Type", Dr. D'Adamo provides guidance based on blood type. Type O's tend to do well on organic, free-range meats. Type A's tend to do well with near vegetarian diets, with lots of organic non-GMO soy, legumes, and complex carbs. Type B's are the ones that do well with organic raw dairy and some meats.
Genetic Testing for Your Health
Apolipoprotein E genetic testing provides the next step. Apolipoprotein E genotyping examines the differences between E2, E3, and E4. The E3 genotype accounts for about half of the US population. This group seems to do well with a moderate diet in terms of protein, fat, and alcohol. This group appears to adapt adequately to meat or vegetarian diets and can do ok with or without alcohol. The E2 group actually requires a moderate fat diet and does poorly on a restricted fat diet. So a vegan raw food diet might not be a good choice for this group. The E2 group also appears to benefit from a moderate amount of alcohol rather than abstaining entirely, particularly with the men. However the E2 group will have a tendency to increased triglycerides so they need to limit their simple carbs and watch out for diabetes and syndrome X or insulin resistance. The E4 group accounts for 25%of the US population and this group thrives on low fat, and avoiding alcohol. This group conserves and utilizes fat so well that on an average diet they have a 42% increase in heart disease over the other groups. This group may actually do poorly with the very popular fish oil supplement, so it is important to know what genotype you are. Even for those choosing to use allopathic pharmaceuticals, its important to know what genotype you are as the E2 group will respond to statins, wheras the E4 group will not. The E4 group responds most favorably to diet modification.
Schedule Your Test
Schedule an appointment so we can determine the best diet for your lifelong wellness strategy. Both tests are done in-office, blood typing is done for $24 and the Apo E genotyping is $130. Remember these are tests done once in a lifetime to determine what your health risks are and the best diet you can implement for lifelong wellness.
